Day 1 (13 August): Condition of the Heart

Morning Meditation: Psalm 139

Passage: Daniel 9:1-6

We need to acknowledge who God is - how great, how awesome He is. He is a covenant-keeping God - He is faithful. He never changes and is altogether righteous.

Daniel recognised his own true state (v.5,6) and confessed.

Likewise, we need to examine our hearts in the light of God's holiness and confess from:-

- rebelliousness, disobedience, all that is not right in us.

- stony hearts and closed minds, we are not responsive to God's Word so that it doesn't take root and bear fruit in our lives.

- hard-hearted or half-hearted.

We need the light of God to shine into our hearts to reveal what is in it (Psalm 139:23,24)

Are there idols in our hearts ? They may be in the form of family, work, leisure, or pleasure.

Pr Daniel shared that personally, God showed him that he lacked restedness. His mind is preoccupied with many things he has to do thus a state of restlessness. How about us? Are we so distracted by the world that we lack the peace that guards our heart?

Point of Reflection:

What is the true condition of your heart ?

Are there idols that you need to confess before the LORD?

PRAY Lord help me to be ruthlessly honest before You.
